Cyberpunk 2077 will not receive PS5 Pro enhancements update

The highly anticipated PS5 Pro is launching with numerous games receiving enhanced updates to elevate the gaming experience for its users. Naturally, many assumed that Cyberpunk 2077—already one of the best-looking games on PS5, thanks to the tremendous effort by developer CD Projekt Red—would eventually receive its own enhanced version. However, CD Projekt Red has officially confirmed that they have no plans to release a dedicated PS5 Pro update for Cyberpunk 2077.

Released in December 2020, Cyberpunk 2077 faced significant controversy due to a host of glitches and bugs that rendered the launch version nearly unplayable. The PlayStation version, in particular, was so problematic that it was temporarily removed from the PlayStation Store. Over the years, however, CD Projekt Red worked tirelessly, releasing numerous patches and updates that greatly improved the game’s performance, ultimately transforming it into a remarkable success story.

Despite this turnaround, it seems the developers have decided to halt active support for Cyberpunk 2077, delivering disappointing news to fans who had hoped for an enhanced version tailored to the PS5 Pro.

In a recent post on Twitter/X, CD Projekt Red confirmed that the studio has no plans to release a PlayStation 5 Pro patch for Cyberpunk 2077. Since 2022, the studio has been shifting its focus to The Witcher 4, which was confirmed to bring Geralt back, aiming to redeem themselves in the eyes of fans they once disappointed. In May 2024, CD Projekt Red officially announced that development for Cyberpunk 2077 had concluded, with no employees currently working on the title. It seems the team is now entirely focused on their upcoming project, with no intention of revisiting Cyberpunk 2077.

Even though it’s disappointing that Cyberpunk 2077 won’t receive a PS5 Pro update, it’s understandable given the developers’ other plans.
