Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.5: leak vs official patch notes

The Edgerunners 2 Update has landed in Night City
Updates & Patches

The Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.5 leak turned out to be mostly right. Earlier this week, a YouTuber posted details of the free update before CD Projekt Red's presentation, and the studio's official patch notes then confirmed most of it ahead of the October 22 launch.

From leak to patch notes

YouTuber WesNemo apparently published his video too early. It was pulled eventually, but players had already summarized it. At the time of the leak, CD Projekt Red had only confirmed dual-wielding and cyberware customization. Then, after the REDstream on October 21, the studio released official patch notes that mostly confirm the leak, with a few minor extras.

Arm cyberware, outfits and an Edgerunners 2 prequel quest

Cyberware customization is part of the official announcement. Equip your Mantis Blades, Gorilla Arms, Monowire, or Projectile Launch System and visit one of five Glamdocs, marked with a spray paint icon on the map. Each sits in its own shop with an intro scene and a catalog of cyberware skins with customizable colors.

Confirmed cosmetics include the NUS Infiltrator clothing set, sold in Kabuki and Japantown, four Twintone skins for the Quadra Turbo-R V-Tech through Twitch Drops, new hairstyles for both male and female V, and Cyberpunk Trading Card Game frames in Photo Mode. Alongside the cosmetics, the update adds a new gig, Clampdown, which takes place just before Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2.

Dual-wielding with Double Trouble

The Double Trouble perk sits in the Cool tree and creates a new playstyle around dual-wielding Pistols and Revolvers from the Power category. The official description doesn't say Tech or Smart handguns, melee weapons or every pistol type can be dual-wielded, so check the Cool tree after updating before changing your build.

Console mods arrive through mod.io

Cross-platform mod support powered by mod.io lets you browse and install a selection of player-made mods from the in-game menu, with more added over time. Console players also get an FOV slider.

Achievements and trophies can't be earned on console from a modded save, and modded saves get their own icon. Saves are now grouped by playthrough, and stashes get item filters. The notes also mention DLSS 4.5 support, ray tracing and HDR improvements, with PS5 Pro optimizations.

Somehow, Night City always finds its way back into our lives, and this time that path is called Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2. Update 2.5 gives you plenty of new reasons to step back into V’s shoes.
