Cyberpunk 2077 is now CD Projekt Red’s highest-earning title

Cyberpunk 2077 has officially overtaken The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt as CD Projekt Red’s most profitable title, with the futuristic RPG now surpassing 35 million copies sold in under five years. The milestone was revealed in the company’s latest financial commentary, where CFO Piotr Nielubowicz confirmed that Cyberpunk 2077 has become the studio’s “main source of revenue”—a remarkable turnaround following its troubled launch.

A Late-Generation Surge Driven by New Platforms and Renewed Interest

According to Nielubowicz, Cyberpunk 2077’s five-year performance now outpaces that of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt over the same period, marking a key shift in CDPR’s long-term sales trajectory. Much of this momentum comes from the game’s expanded availability. Throughout 2024, Cyberpunk 2077 arrived on Switch 2 and Apple Silicon Macs, opening the door to broader audiences than ever before. Its addition to PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium further boosted interest, with the CFO noting that it also helped drive sales of the acclaimed Phantom Liberty expansion—contradicting fears that subscription access might hurt direct purchases.

Even more impressively, CDPR reports that “organic sales” of Cyberpunk 2077 and Phantom Liberty across existing platforms have grown compared to last year. Combined with the game’s overhauled systems, major patches, and strong critical rebound, Cyberpunk 2077 has solidified itself as a long-tail success story.

Looking ahead, CD Projekt Red briefly touched on the rising anticipation surrounding The Witcher 4, which has already landed a Most Anticipated Game nomination at The Game Awards 2025. That level of recognition—despite the studio not yet having started its proper marketing campaign—shows just how eagerly fans are awaiting Geralt’s universe to return.
