A sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 is already in the works

Those who didn't trust CD Projekt Red after the disastrous launch of Cyberpunk 2077 may be surprised by the level of success the game has achieved. The unique RPG from the Polish developer has managed to become one of the best titles in the genre and it had sold over 20 million copies in September. The recent release of the Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty expansion has boosted those numbers as many players who were still reticent about the game have rushed to immerse into the novelties added on the occasion of the release via a huge patch. Over three million copies of the expansions were sold in the first week after its release, therefore, Cyberpunk 2077 can be considered a solid enough bet for those players looking for a futuristic RPG adventure.

Cyberpunk 2077 is so good after the expansion that many players are complaining because Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty is the only additional content that the game is going to receive. CD Projekt Red already stated that it won't be releasing any expansions for its role-playing game but it seems that there is still hope for those who love Cyberpunk 2077.

It has already begun already

We already knew that there would be a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 as the studio revealed it last year, but a recent announcement confirms that CD Projekt Red has already started to work on it.

"We decided not to develop any more add-ons for CP2077, but rather to start designing a full sequel to the game under the Project Orion codename. This project is on the conceptual design level right now, and it's going to be designed by a team of veterans who were responsible for designing Cyberpunk 2077 and designing Phantom Liberty."

Of course, we will still have to wait for a long time until the new game is released. Cyberpunk 2077 had us waiting for several years and its sequel is likely to be even more ambitious. The big question about it is if it will include some kind of multiplayer option that would take the gameplay to a different level, especially if it has the same quality as Phantom Liberty.
