Subnautica 2 gameplay video increases the hype
After delighting the fans with its first cinematic trailer, a gameplay teaser for Subnautica 2 has been released ahead of the game's highly anticipated Early Access debut later this week. It offers fans a deeper look at the next chapter in the beloved underwater survival series. The new footage showcases vast alien oceans, terrifying sea creatures, and major gameplay upgrades that signal a more ambitious experience than ever before.
Coming soon
Developed by Unknown Worlds Entertainment, Subnautica 2 takes players to a brand-new oceanic planet packed with mysterious ecosystems and dangerous wildlife. The teaser highlights glowing underwater caves, massive open environments, and several colossal leviathan-style creatures hidden within the depths. The game's improved visuals, powered by Unreal Engine 5, bring noticeably richer lighting, denser environments, and more detailed underwater life.
The teaser also highlights a major visual upgrade. Built with Unreal Engine 5, the game features highly detailed biomes, dynamic lighting, dense underwater vegetation, and larger environments than fans have seen before. From glowing caves to deep ocean trenches, the world appears more alive and immersive, emphasizing both beauty and danger at every depth.
Several new mechanics can also be spotted throughout the trailer. Players appear to have access to upgraded tools, customizable equipment, and new forms of underwater transportation. Some scenes even hint at biological enhancements connected to alien lifeforms, suggesting the sequel may place a stronger focus on adaptation and evolution as part of survival gameplay.
The return of giant leviathan-style creatures remains a central part of the experience. The teaser repeatedly builds tension with dark open waters, distant roars, and sudden glimpses of massive predators lurking beneath the surface. That mix of exploration and psychological fear continues to define the identity of the franchise.
Subnautica 2 is scheduled to launch in Early Access on May 14 for PC and Xbox Series X/S, including day-one access through Xbox Game Pass. According to the developers, the Early Access phase will continue for several years as new story content, creatures, biomes, and gameplay features are gradually added through updates.
Subnautica 2 could become the franchise's most ambitious and immersive adventure yet, and you can get your copy of the Subnautica 2 at the lowest price with our comparator. Make sure to check out the system requirements if you intend to play the game on PC.
