Helldivers 2 reveals Python Commandos Warbond for December 2025

Arrowhead Game Studios has lifted the lid on Helldivers 2’s next premium warbond, Python Commandos, launching on December 2 alongside the game’s upcoming major update. After a rocky mid-year marked by crashes, optimization issues, and player frustration, the studio shifted its focus toward stabilizing the game—a strategy that has slowly but steadily paid off. Now, with performance trending upward, Arrowhead appears ready to deliver fresh content once again.

The timing couldn’t be better. Just weeks ago, Helldivers 2 saw a notable resurgence across PS5, Xbox, and PC thanks to the momentum sparked by the Xbox port, which boosted player activity and sales across all platforms. This new warbond seems positioned to build on that rising wave of interest.

Python Commandos Brings New Stratagems, Gear, and Firepower

According to a new PlayStation Blog reveal, Python Commandos introduces three new stratagems and a new primary weapon, all designed to shake up loadouts and expand tactical options on the battlefield. Here’s what players can expect:

- Stratagems:

M-1000 Maxigun – A belt-fed minigun that promises ludicrous sustained firepower.
AX/FLAM-75 “Guard Dog” Hot Dog – A fiery airborne reinterpretation of the classic Guard Dog support drone.
CQC-9 Defoliation Tool – A chainsaw-style melee weapon that lets Helldivers carve through close-range threats.

- Primary Weapon:

AR/GL-21 One-Two – A hybrid assault rifle and grenade launcher designed for flexible engagements.

- Armor:

RS-20 Constrictor (Light Armor) – Light on weight, sturdy on stability.
RS-40 Best of Prey (Heavy Armor) – Built for durability, even at the cost of mobility.

The warbond also debuts a new passive ability, Rock Solid, which reduces staggering and ragdoll effects—a welcome buff for players who find themselves repeatedly sent flying by Charger tackles and Bile Titan tantrums. Cosmetics, capes, patterns, an emote, and other customization items round out the Python Commandos package. Like previous premium warbonds, it will be purchasable with Super Credits earned in-game or bought with real money.

With performance improvements landing and new content finally returning, the Helldivers 2 community seems cautiously optimistic about the game’s trajectory. If Arrowhead can maintain this balance between stability and content updates, December’s Python Commandos drop could mark the beginning of a more confident new phase for the live-service title.
