Steam's most-played of the year revealed
Steam continues to be one of the most popular platforms to play video games on PC despite the efforts of GOG and especially Epic Games Store to surpass it. Of course, each of them has its own features to appeal to players in different ways, and they are not exclusive. Therefore, the number of players using Valve's platform to play their favourite games increases exponentially every year alongside the selection of games available via Steam. Also, Valve started revealing many interesting statistics about its platform a few years ago, including the most popular games, those that generated the most revenue, and so on. This data comes as valuable information for those looking for suggestions about their next video game.
The most played of 2024
Possibly, the most interesting information about Steam games is the one revealing the games that have generated more revenue in 2024, especially when it comes to new releases. Older titles have their own category and it always shows titles like CS: GO, DOTA 2, and other Valve games among the top ones, which is nothing surprising. However, the list that only includes new releases has some surprises indeed.
Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero, Manor Lords, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, NBA 2K25, Helldivers 2, Black Myth: Wukong, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl, Palworld, EA Sports FC 25, Path of Exile 2, and Dragon's Dogma 2 top the list of new releases that generated more revenue on Steam in 2024. It's worth saying that some of these were released in their Early Access versions or very recently which is even more significant as their potential growth is greater over time.
When it comes to the most played games in 2024, this specific list includes older titles. Very few have surpassed 400,000 concurrent players this year, but Black Myth: Wukong, Helldivers 2, Palworld, and Path of Exile 2 stand out among free-to-play games and classics not released in 2024.
Steam offers a wide selection of games for you to play on PC and as usual, you can find the best deals to purchase those with our comparator, also for other platforms. So, have you decided which one will be your next favourite game?
