Palworld may be coming to PS5 but not to Nintendo Switch

A few months ago, Palworld had a start that many video game developers would love for their creations. With millions of players in the game and controversy regarding its similarities with Pokémon games that only served to boost the game's popularity, the game soon achieved unprecedented success. A rather small game was putting to shame some of the highly-anticipated triple-A releases of 2024, making the game even more appealing to many players. Moving fast forward a few months, things have cooled down quite a bit for Palworld, which is actually quite logical considering that it's a game that is still in Early Access. Developer Pocketpair has kept adding new features to the game via free updates and the game maintains a stable player base.

New platforms

The peak of concurrent players reached by Palworld when it was released on Steam may never be reached again, at least on Valve's platform. However, Pocketpair could be looking for greener fields somewhere else. Palworld community manager made a publication on X (Twitter) that teased the possible release of the game on PlayStation consoles. Everyone has assumed that the blue heart in the post directly points at PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 as the next platforms that will allow you to play Palworld. Still, there is no official announcement about a release date or anything.

The upcoming release of a new patch full of content with a new area to explore, new Pals, and an increase to the level cap would be an appropriate moment to release the game on other platforms and draw the attention of the masses. However, Nintendo Switch should be taken out of the equation regarding future platforms for Palworld. Poketpair CEO Takuro Misobe has revealed in a recent interview that the limited capabilities of Nintendo's hybrid console make it quite unlikely that the game will be released anytime soon on that platform.
