Palworld’s full release gains momentum instead of slowing down
Palworld’s massive 1.0 launch is starting to look like much more than a quick nostalgia-fuelled comeback. Instead of reaching its highest player count during launch weekend and immediately sliding down the Steam charts, Pocketpair’s survival hit attracted even more players during its second weekend—and reportedly sold another 1.8 million copies in the process.
That is a seriously impressive result for a game that originally exploded onto the scene in Early Access back in January 2024. Many players had already spent dozens, or even hundreds, of hours capturing Pals, building bases and discovering increasingly questionable ways to run an efficient workforce. Yet version 1.0 has successfully convinced both returning fans and curious newcomers that there is still plenty of adventure left in Palworld.
Palworld’s player count keeps climbing
During its first weekend following the full release, Palworld reached a Steam concurrent-player peak of more than 855,000. Rather than losing momentum, the game climbed even higher during its second weekend, reaching close to 962,000 simultaneous players. That represents an increase of over 100,000 players from one weekend to the next, which is the opposite of what usually happens after a major game launch.
The sales figures tell a similar story. Although Pocketpair has not officially confirmed a new sales milestone, analyst estimates suggest Palworld sold around 1.8 million additional copies following the 1.0 release. Most of those sales reportedly came from Steam, with PlayStation and Xbox also contributing to the game’s renewed success. Game Pass players are not included in those direct sales figures, making the overall audience even larger.
Version 1.0 gave players plenty of reasons to return. The update added dozens of new Pals, the floating Sunreach island, additional progression systems and the long-awaited continuation of the World Tree storyline. Combined with a launch discount and Palworld’s naturally chaotic sandbox gameplay, the update feels closer to a relaunch than a routine content patch.
The big takeaway is that Palworld is not simply enjoying one temporary spike. Player numbers grew during the second weekend, new copies are reportedly flying off the digital shelves and the community appears ready for another long stretch of monster-catching madness.
