Modern Warfare 4 Season 1: Patch Notes and novelties

Modern Warfare 4 Season 1 Patch Notes: New Maps, Weapons & Balance Changes
Updates & Patches

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Season 1 is live as of November 6 at midnight ET, and the official patch notes are packed with additions: four maps joining the rotation, two new weapons, a brand-new DMZ Exclusion Zone under Hajin, a broad weapon-tuning pass, and a 120Hz Performance Mode for consoles. Here is everything in the patch, with details as of November 6, 2026.

Season 1 Is Live: Date, Time and Platforms

Season 1 went live on November 6 at midnight ET (9:00 PM PT on November 5) for Modern Warfare 4 and Warzone. It arrives together with the Warzone integration covered in our Warzone Season 1 rundown and the new 100-tier Battle Pass, whose pricing and rewards we break down in our Season 1 guide. For the game's launch details, see our release times and editions coverage.

New Maps: Backstab, Canyon and the Return of Shoot House

Four maps join the rotation. Backstab takes the fight to a snow-covered town, while Canyon mixes open spaces with natural terrain and elevation. Shoot House returns with its familiar three-lane layout in a new setting, and Kill Block: Crash adds a new featured combo for 6v6. Expect additional maps later in the season.

Two modes from previous installments in the series also return: Grind, where players collect and bank Dog Tags to score, and Drop Zone, which puts teams in control of a rotating objective to earn Killstreak drops. The Gauntlet 1v1 Gunfight playlist is arriving soon through the Wager Match Event, where Trophies are the currency and the winning player stays on to face the next opponent.

New Weapons: Cronen Osprey, CSG-35 and Two More Later

The Season 1 Battle Pass introduces two new base weapons. The Cronen Osprey is a precision-engineered 5.56 assault rifle with a best-in-class fire rate, and the CSG-35 SMG can be dual-wielded akimbo to trade accuracy for a wave of chaotic firepower. Activision confirms that two additional weapons and several new attachments will join the armory over the course of the season.

DMZ Expands: X01 Under Hajin and the Battle Tank Event

DMZ gets a new Exclusion Zone: X01, an underground GRANIT Arms facility beneath Hajin, with new areas to explore, new threats and equipment, and new DMZ Orders tied to the zone. The update also refreshes the FOB with updated Boss Board intel — including new Lieutenant and Commander information — plus vendor, recipe and assembly updates, and an in-world 3D Printer.

The Threat Briefing: Battle Tank event tasks players with destroying Battle Tank threats in DMZ, then looting and exfiling armor fragments for rewards. A Wager Match Event is coming soon, with challenges across Multiplayer, DMZ and Warzone.

Weapon Tuning, 120Hz Performance Mode and Other Changes

Season 1 ships with a broad weapon-balancing pass. Assault rifles got mostly buffs — longer damage ranges for the M4, Kastov 762, Patriot XMR and Axion, more headshot damage for the Han 86, and a damage bump for the Hyeon Burst — while SMGs like the PPSh-41, Wz.55 Striga, ISO Nightshade and X-58 Nyx gained damage or range, and the VEL 46 traded a little close-range reach for more minimum damage. LMGs, shotguns, marksman rifles and pistols were adjusted too, including the APOC-338, Type 73, Rezi 12, Mosin-Nagant, Oris 8.6 and Krait P68.

As a bonus, Performance Mode (120Hz) is now open to all PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S players with 120Hz displays, regardless of VRR support, although VRR is still recommended for the best experience.

Finally, enforcement: Warzone Agent, an unauthorized paid app that enables lobby shopping, will now trigger detection notices and block access to Multiplayer modes while it is running, with Campaign access unaffected. Attempts to circumvent the restrictions can lead to temporary or permanent account or hardware bans. Use it at your own risk.

If you are jumping into Season 1 this week, compare offers across stores and grab Modern Warfare 4 at the best price through our price comparison platform. More maps, modes and events will arrive later, as the season progresses.
