MSI and Activision team up on a collectible Modern Warfare 4 RTX 5080

MSI partners with Activision to give the RTX 5080 a Modern Warfare 4 design

Despite ongoing GPU supply constraints, manufacturers continue to release special-edition graphics cards for enthusiasts and collectors. MSI is the latest to join the trend, unveiling its limited-edition GeForce RTX 5080 16G COD MW4 Edition OC in collaboration with Activision ahead of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4's scheduled launch on October 23, 2026.

Built around MSI's Gaming Trio design, the new graphics card swaps the usual appearance for a military-inspired black-and-yellow color scheme that reflects the game's branding. Its most unusual feature is the heatsink, whose cooling fins are painted entirely yellow. MSI describes this as a world-first treatment for a graphics card cooling system, going beyond the usual customization of the outer shroud.

The design extends to the backplate, which incorporates a transparent section featuring Ghost's portrait while exposing part of the PCB. These visual touches give the card a distinctive look, particularly for Call of Duty fans who want their gaming hardware to match the franchise.

Underneath the custom exterior, the RTX 5080 COD MW4 Edition OC retains the familiar NVIDIA hardware. It uses the GB203 GPU with 10,752 CUDA cores, paired with 16GB of GDDR7 memory on a 256-bit bus. MSI has applied a factory overclock, so performance should be marginally higher than the reference Founders Edition, although buyers should not expect a substantial improvement over other RTX 5080 models.

Cooling is handled by MSI's TRIO FROZR 4 system, which combines three STORMFORCE fans with claw-textured blades and a nickel-plated copper baseplate. The design also incorporates Wave Curved 4.0 and Air Antegrade Fin 2.0 technologies, which MSI says improve airflow and heat dissipation while helping keep operating noise down. The yellow coating is purely cosmetic and is not intended to change cooling performance.

The GeForce RTX 5080 16G COD MW4 Edition OC is scheduled to arrive in select markets on October 23, 2026. MSI has yet to announce pricing or specify which countries will receive the limited-edition card. Given its custom design and restricted availability, buyers are primarily paying for exclusivity rather than a major performance upgrade.
