This week's game launches on PC, PS5, Xbox: October 2026 (Week 43)

The week of October 19 - 25, 2026, has a heavyweight headliner, a new chapter in one of gaming's biggest franchises, and plenty of alternatives for players who would rather explore fantasy worlds, compete with friends, or embark on a culinary adventure. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is the biggest launch of the week, arriving on October 23 and leading a busy Friday release schedule.

October 19 - 25 releases

October 21: Stupid Never Dies and DEMONS' NIGHT FEVER

The week's releases begin with two very different takes on action and supernatural trouble.

Stupid Never Dies is an action RPG starring Davy, a weak zombie who can grow stronger by devouring enemies, stealing their powers, and transforming as he fights through a dangerous dungeon. His goal is to revive Julia, who has been frozen, giving this unusual adventure a story-driven objective beneath its frantic combat. Players who enjoy action RPGs with unconventional protagonists and progression systems should keep an eye on this one.

DEMONS' NIGHT FEVER adds another dose of supernatural action to the schedule. It's a tactical simulation RPG that turns conventional strategy on its head. Developed by Drecom and published by Arc System Works, it centres on the demon god Gigasugoides, who unexpectedly finds himself transformed into a baby. With his powers gone, he must work with a disgruntled young man to regain his former strength and challenge a supposedly righteous deity.

Battles take place on a grid, but the real twist is that sacrificing your own minions can be a legitimate route to victory. The more ruthless your tactics, the stronger your forces can become. Between encounters, players can spend points earned through villainous deeds to recruit characters and strengthen their army. Its irreverent premise and deliberately wicked mechanics should appeal to strategy fans looking for something more unconventional than a straightforward fantasy war.

October 22: FINAL FANTASY RESONANCE and Nintendo Switch Sports Resort

Thursday is the busiest day for players looking for something different from a first-person shooter.

FINAL FANTASY RESONANCE brings the legendary RPG franchise into a new adventure combining classic turn-based combat with HD-2D visuals. Its presentation blends detailed pixel-art characters with modern lighting and three-dimensional environments, creating a nostalgic look without sacrificing contemporary visual effects. For JRPG fans, it is one of the week's titles to watch, offering an alternative to the action-heavy releases arriving later in the week.

Nintendo Switch Sports Resort is the social pick of the week. Built around motion-controlled sports, it offers an alternative for families and groups looking for something more accessible than a traditional single-player adventure. The game invites players to take part in a collection of sporting activities on the familiar Wuhu Island. The lineup features 12 disciplines, combining returning favourites such as tennis, bowling, golf, and volleyball with additional activities including skateboarding, water-based sports, and thumb wrestling.

October 23: ONE PIECE: Grand Gourmet, Warrior Cats, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4

Friday is the busiest release day of the week, with three titles targeting very different audiences. The biggest name is undoubtedly Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, but there are alternatives for players who prefer management games or adventures set in familiar fictional worlds.

Activision's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 takes centre stage this week, bringing the long-running military shooter back into the spotlight. As the week's headline release, it is the title most likely to dominate conversations among players looking for a new blockbuster campaign and competitive multiplayer action. The campaign centres on a large-scale invasion of South Korea by North Korean forces, following a young squad of South Korean soldiers fighting on the front lines. Meanwhile, Captain Price pursues his own operations, with the story extending beyond Korea to locations including New York, Paris, and Mumbai.

The Modern Warfare series has built its reputation on cinematic military storytelling and fast-paced firefights, while its multiplayer modes provide a reason to keep playing long after the credits roll. In this installment, the addition of the new DMZ extraction mode brings a significant option for those looking for a different type of experience. For fans of the franchise, the launch is the week's major date to mark on the calendar.

ONE PIECE: Grand Gourmet offers a different approach to the world of the Straw Hat pirates. Instead of focusing on naval battles and treasure hunting, this management game puts players in charge of a floating restaurant, where the goal is to prepare dishes, attract customers, and build a thriving business alongside familiar characters from the series. Its pixel-art presentation and management mechanics should appeal to players who enjoy gradual progression and building up a business, as well as those who simply want another way to spend time with the Straw Hat crew.

Meanwhile, Warrior Cats: Clans of the Forest brings the popular Warrior Cats universe to the week's release calendar. It brings the world of the Warriors books to life, inviting players to experience the challenges and adventures of living as a wild cat. Explore a sprawling forest, interact with other cats, and become part of a clan where loyalty, territory, and survival shape everyday life. Build friendships, encounter rival clans, and discover your place within a world governed by its own traditions and social hierarchies. This feline adventure offers an opportunity to create your own path in the forest.
