The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom gets Korean board rating

A new update has The Legend of Zelda fans abuzz with rumors for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, due for release in May next year. The South Korean Game Rating and Classifications Board have announced that the Tears of the Kingdom has been deemed “suitable for the ages of 12 and up,” indicating that there are “mild depictions of violence.” This is South Korea’s second most accessible rating and is the exactly same as the previous game’s, making Tears of the Kingdom available to a wide audience—for Nintendo Switch owners, anyway.

The Kingdom Comes

Tied with the May 2022 release date, the ratings announcement suggests that there very likely won’t be any delays to the release of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. The timing of the announcement may also suggest that we could see a new trailer released sometime soon. If so, then a logical time would be during The Game Awards 2022, which is not a long wait since it’s happening on December 9.

Rumors have likewise been swirling about the game’s storyline. What we know so far is what Nintendo has teased in their official description: "In addition to the vast lands of Hyrule, the latest entry in the storied Legend of Zelda series will take you up into the skies!” The teaser also showed Zelda and Link exploring the inside of a massive underground cavern, which could mean a darker and scarier adventure than its predecessor, Breath of the Wild.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will have a worldwide launch on May 12, 2023 via Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch Lite, and Nintendo Switch OLED.
