The Division 2 won’t launch on Steam

The irruption of Epic Games in the video games market is starting to have effects far beyond the huge success of Fortnite. Ubisoft has teamed up with Epic to launch Tom Clancy's The Division 2 on Epic Games Store. It wouldn't be such a surprise if they hadn't left Steam out. The game was featured on Valve's digital distribution platform until a while ago but now it has disappeared from their shop. Those that had ordered the game through Steam or any other platform already don't have to worry about losing their purchases, because Ubisoft says that “any pre-orders previously placed elsewhere will still be honored”. Still, this is the first huge torpedo aimed at the waterline of the digital distribution giant and proves that Epic's third-party digital distribution model, more favorable to developers than others, is starting to bear fruit. Comparatively, Steam takes 30% and Epic only 12% from developer's revenue.

We don't know if Ubisoft's decision has just triggered a war between the video games digital distribution platforms or what effect will that cause on the market, but it's 100% sure that if you want to purchase Tom Clancy's The Division 2, you can only do it through Epic Store or Ubisoft's own store now. You still can use our comparator to find the best prices, though.
