Stellar Blade sparks horror DLC speculation before Tokyo Game Show

Stellar Blade teases potential horror-themed DLC ahead of Tokyo Game Show

Stellar Blade fans may be in for a chilling surprise. Developer Shift Up has posted a cryptic teaser image on the game’s official Twitter/X account, sparking speculation that the stylish action title could soon receive horror-inspired content—or even a crossover event. The image, captioned simply with “in one week…” and a star emoji, comes just days before the Tokyo Game Show 2025, where new reveals are expected.

The teaser itself shows a dilapidated corridor with cracked walls, broken floorboards, dangling wires, and a faint glow at the end of the hallway. Bathed in a rusty orange hue, the scene looks strikingly similar to the unsettling aesthetic of survival horror classics like Silent Hill and Resident Evil. This marks a dramatic shift from Stellar Blade’s usual post-apocalyptic cityscapes and deserts, hinting that Shift Up may be experimenting with a darker tone in its upcoming content.

A Horror Twist or Silent Hill Crossover?

The timing of the teaser has only fueled speculation. Silent Hill f—the first mainline entry in the series since 2012—launches on September 25, overlapping with TGS 2025. Some fans believe the teaser could be pointing to a crossover event between Stellar Blade and Silent Hill, especially since both franchises have participated in promotional collaborations before. Others think Shift Up might be preparing a Halloween-themed event, a standalone horror mission, or even a DLC expansion designed to showcase the studio’s versatility.

Shift Up has already supported Stellar Blade with crossover DLCs involving Nier: Automata and Goddess of Victory: Nikke, so another unexpected collaboration wouldn’t be unprecedented. The developer has also confirmed plans to expand the Stellar Blade universe with spin-offs and a full sequel expected between 2027–2028. Leaning into horror themes could give players a glimpse of how far the franchise might stretch in the future.

Whatever the case, fans won’t have to wait long—the countdown has already begun, and the reveal is expected at Tokyo Game Show later this month.
