SHIFT UP expands team for AAA multiplatform future of Stellar Blade
SHIFT UP has formally launched a major recruitment campaign to build the next entry in the Stellar Blade franchise, marking the studio’s biggest hiring push to date. The new project is described as a “AAA-class multiplatform action game” that expands the original’s universe and is being developed for both console and PC from the ground up.
The company announced on November 21 that applications are now open with no specific deadline, allowing candidates across a wide range of disciplines to apply at any time. Roles include 3D environment and character artists, concept artists, monster and PC combat designers, level and system designers, scenario writers, technical artists, engine programmers, client programmers, and composers.
A Next-Generation Multiplatform Vision for the Series
According to SHIFT UP, the upcoming title will inherit the stylish action foundations and narrative-driven world-building that defined Stellar Blade, while expanding its scope into a broader, more technically ambitious experience. This time, PC is being prioritized from the earliest stages — reflected by the dedicated “PC combat designer” position listed alongside monster combat design in the recruitment posting.
This direction comes at an ideal moment for the franchise. The original Stellar Blade launched as a hit PlayStation 5 exclusive in 2024 and later achieved impressive traction on PC, with the 2025 release drawing nearly 200,000 concurrent users at its peak — a milestone that demonstrated strong cross-platform demand for the IP. SHIFT UP now appears committed to evolving the series with a unified multiplatform design rather than staggered ports.
The studio’s new initiative aims to elevate the formula through deeper combat, more dynamic world presentation, and the introduction of new technical frameworks suited for next-generation hardware. While the project remains in early development, SHIFT UP emphasizes that it intends to advance its action gameplay while preserving the identity and story-driven elements that fueled the series’ rise.
With development expanding and recruitment accelerating, the next Stellar Blade is shaping up to be one of SHIFT UP’s most ambitious endeavors yet. More details — including platforms, features, and a potential release window — are expected as the team grows and production progresses.
