Stellar Blade shatters records on PC launch day

Stellar Blade has officially landed on PC—and its impact has been nothing short of explosive. Within just hours of release, the highly anticipated port from developer Shift Up soared past 99,000 concurrent players on Steam, according to SteamDB, making it the most successful PlayStation-published single-player game launch on the platform. It has already outpaced major titles like Ghost of Tsushima (77,000 peak players), God of War, and Marvel’s Spider-Man. Currently, the game has reached over 180,000 peak concurrent players, solidifying its position at the top of the PlayStation-to-PC leaderboard.

Stellar Blade: The Most Successful PlayStation PC Port Yet

But this isn’t just about numbers. Stellar Blade’s PC version is also earning widespread acclaim for its technical polish and gameplay quality. With more than 8,000 user reviews and an astonishing 97% positive rating, the game currently holds an “Overwhelmingly Positive” status on Steam. Players have praised its smooth performance, fluid combat, and striking visuals—many even reporting that it runs flawlessly on mid-range hardware. This stability is particularly impressive compared to the rocky launches of previous PlayStation ports like The Last of Us Part I and Horizon Forbidden West.

A key contributor to this warm reception may be the free demo that Shift Up released ahead of launch. This clever move gave players early access to the game's stylish action and tight mechanics, building trust and excitement. The demo not only highlighted the game’s strengths but also sparked a wave of community engagement—including a flurry of mods that began appearing even before the official release.

This overwhelming success marks a major milestone for Shift Up, signaling their arrival as a serious contender in the global gaming scene. Despite being a relatively small studio, Stellar Blade has proven they can compete with the industry's biggest names. Looking ahead, Shift Up has ambitious plans, including a sequel for Stellar Blade and a mysterious new project codenamed Project Witches. It’s clear the studio is just getting started—and the gaming world is paying attention.

If you're curious about the hype, don’t forget to try the free demo first. And once you’re ready to jump in, be sure to use our price comparison tool to find the best deal for Stellar Blade—one of the most exciting action games of the year.

A very good game in the same vein as Nier Automata. The game is graphically beautiful, technically sound and the combat is well-paced. The two faults I could find were the side quests, which you can skip but are pretty bad, and the fact that they add virtually nothing to the game, which is a shame. And the second is that the game isn't long enough, barely thirty hours where Nier is in the fifties.

I don't agree with you at all. It's all about numbers, and luring people in with enticing characters is a widely-used technique. The Devil May Cry-style gameplay doesn't speak to me, but the effects are great, I can't deny that. The game doesn't speak to me, but if people like it, it's no wonder they bet on this kind of game to make money. why not do the same on really important titles? exclusives are a pain in the ass for gamers, that's all.

like my comment on the game page, I don't have any real info, but I think that 3/4 of the people who bought the game liked it (I don't know). It's mainly because of the skins and the vulgar shapes of the characters they played. Those who bought the game for its gameplay, on the other hand, I understand their point of view.

It seems to me that the gooner community is and should be stronger than the normie play community.
