Two new powerful weapons are available in Helldivers 2

Automatons are the most feared faction in Helldivers 2, at least, it's been like that since the game was released. The high armour of these bloodthirsty robots made them especially difficult to kill with light weapons which are the most common type used by Helldivers on their missions. This made the addition of mechs to the game a very welcome feature as it gave the forces fighting for Super Earth an edge against the Automatons in some fights. However, things have changed for good in Helldivers 2, and players have now access to new weapons that can punch a hole in enemy defenses. A recent publication from the Helldivers 2 account on X confirmed that two new heavy weapons are available in the game now: the LAS-99 Quasar Cannon and the MG-101 Heavy Machine Gun.

Armour-piercing power

Battles in Helldivers 2 have significantly changed with the addition of these two weapons. While the MG-101 Heavy Machine Gun provides an amazing rate of fire that is perfect to suppress enemies and cover a wide area with a deadly rain of projectiles, the LAS-99 Quasar Cannon is a powerful weapon capable of firing rays of crackling energy that can puncture heavy armour.

You may need to adapt your gameplay style to use them properly. The recoil of the HMG will be a serious problem for some players when aiming, especially if you don't stabilize your firing position first. Also, the Quasar Cannon takes some time to charge up before firing and needs a rather long time to cool down after every shot. Incidentally, the HMG can provide covering fire for the Helldivers shooting the Quasar Cannon at heavily armoured targets if both are used in tandem with appropriate preparation and positioning. Both weapons are already purchasable in Helldivers 2 for 6,000 and 7,500 requisitions respectively and the players have reacted very favorably to their addition.

Players love the dynamics of the war effort as they constantly pose a challenge thanks to the modifications from the developers in real-time. Also, the new additions to the game keep the experience fresh and prevent the players from getting bored.
