Prepare for New Bosses in Elden Ring: Nightreign on July 31
FromSoftware is set to intensify the trials of Elden Ring: Nightreign with the next wave of enhanced boss encounters, launching on July 31, 2025. Dubbed the "Everdark Sovereigns" cycle, this update introduces more punishing variants of four major Nightlords: Tricephalos, Augur, Fissure in the Fog, and the fearsome Equilibrious Beast, better known to players as "Libra."
The Everdark Sovereigns aren't mere reskins. Each boss has been overhauled with smarter AI, more aggressive attack patterns, and new combat phases designed to push players to their limits. Libra's updated form, in particular, has already been flagged as one of the toughest fights yet, with devastating combos and relentless pressure that leave little room for error. Augur, previously criticized for being lackluster, is also receiving a full combat rework to ensure it stands among the most formidable encounters in the game.
Rotating Nightlords in July
While fans wait for the Everdark Sovereigns to arrive, FromSoftware has kept the battlefield lively by reintroducing older enhanced bosses in weekly rotations. Throughout July, players have been battling Gaping Jaw, Sentient Pest, and Darkdrift Knight in challenging two-boss pairings.
The ongoing schedule is as follows:
-
July 10–17: Gaping Jaw + Darkdrift Knight
-
July 17–24: Sentient Pest + Darkdrift Knight
-
July 24–31: Gaping Jaw + Sentient Pestb
This approach gives players a chance to hone their skills ahead of the brutal Everdark cycle at the end of the month.
The response from the Elden Ring community has been a mix of excitement and apprehension. Some veterans welcome the heightened challenge, eager to test their mettle against tougher bosses, while others worry that the difficulty spike may alienate less experienced players. Still, there’s a shared anticipation surrounding the changes, particularly with bosses like Augur receiving a much-needed revamp.
FromSoftware has confirmed that Elden Ring: Nightreign will continue to evolve, with plans for major DLC updates that will introduce entirely new bosses, fresh Nightfarer classes, and expanded map content. Although the studio has emphasized that the game isn't a live-service game, the team appears committed to delivering periodic updates that keep players invested long-term.
The new wave of Everdark Sovereigns marks a defining moment for Elden Ring: Nightreign, ushering in some of the most intense combat scenarios seen in the Soulslike genre. The upcoming update promises another player surge for the game. It will deliver a trial by fire; one that will either forge legends or leave players broken in the ashes of the Lands Between.
