Crimson Desert’s new update changes much more than expected

Crimson Desert 1.06.00 finally adds features players wanted
Updates & Patches

The new Crimson Desert 1.06.00 update is finally here, and this is not one of those tiny patches filled with a few bug fixes and menu tweaks. Pearl Abyss dropped a proper quality-of-life and content update that touches almost every part of the game, from exploration and combat to inventory management and customization. It feels like the kind of patch players have been asking for since launch, especially for people spending dozens of hours roaming the massive world.

The biggest additions in the update are easy to notice right away:

  • New Mount System
Players can now tame and ride a huge list of wild creatures including wolves, bears, lions, tigers, camels, deer, raptors, and even giant birds. Some animals require specific methods to tame, while others need food or special interactions before they become loyal mounts. It adds a lot more personality to traveling across the world.
  • Extraction System
One of the most requested features finally made it into the game. Players can now extract upgrade materials from equipment without completely losing the item. Rare materials return at full value while normal resources come back partially, making experimentation with builds much less painful.
  • Display Sheath Option
A smaller addition, but one that players immediately appreciated. You can now choose whether weapon sheaths appear visually on your character, giving armor sets a cleaner look.
  • Night Tone Mode
Dark areas and nighttime exploration are much easier on the eyes now thanks to a new visual mode that improves visibility without ruining the atmosphere.
  • Combat Pets
Dogs are no longer just decorative companions. With the new Sigil of Valor item equipped, they can actually attack enemies and assist during fights.

A lot of fixes for smaller problems

Outside of the headline additions, the patch also improves boss encounters, fixes HDR issues, upgrades Mac performance, cleans up UI problems, adds new inventory shortcuts, improves item stacking, and introduces extra unarmed combat skills for Oongka.

Pearl Abyss also mentioned that this update is only part of their larger roadmap, with more combat additions, character improvements, and new content already planned for future updates. It definitely feels like the studio is treating Crimson Desert as a long-term game instead of just moving on after release.
