Resident Evil Requiem receives a new gameplay mode
Capcom has released a new free gameplay mode for Resident Evil Requiem, giving players an intense new way to experience the survival horror title after finishing the main story. The update, titled Leon Must Die Forever, is now available on all supported platforms and introduces a fast-paced challenge mode centered entirely around Leon S. Kennedy.
A roguelike bonus mode
Designed as a high-difficulty roguelike experience, the mode throws players into a series of randomized combat scenarios where survival depends on quick decision-making and resource management. Each run features different enemy layouts, upgrade choices, and timed encounters, creating a constantly changing experience every time players start over. Unlike the main campaign, death sends players back to the beginning, reinforcing the mode’s punishing arcade-style structure.
Capcom appears to have taken inspiration from previous bonus modes such as Ethan Must Die from Resident Evil 7, but expands the concept with more progression systems and combat-focused gameplay. Players can unlock temporary buffs, powerful weapons, and character modifiers as they progress through increasingly dangerous stages. The mode reportedly builds toward a climactic boss battle against one of Requiem's central villains.
Fans have responded positively to the surprise release, with many praising the replay value and chaotic action-heavy gameplay. Early impressions online describe the mode as a blend of classic Resident Evil tension and modern action mechanics, offering a stark contrast to the slower psychological horror elements found in the main story.
This new gameplay mode is unlocked when you complete the main game and it also includes several cosmetic unlocks for Leon, including humorous bonus items that add a lighter tone to the otherwise brutal mode. These additions have already begun circulating across social media as players share clips and screenshots from their runs.
Resident Evil Requiem launched earlier this year and has been praised for combining traditional survival horror with more aggressive combat systems. Although Leon Must Die Forever, is not the story expansion Capcom has planned to release, free additions like this one contribute to keeping longtime fans engaged with fresh challenges. This new mode is just another good reason to give the game a try if you haven't already. Remember that you can buy Resident EVil Requiem at the cheapest price with our comparator.
