Black Myth: Wukong has a feature that makes bosses harder
One of the most discussed topics in the gaming industry nowadays is game difficulty and accessibility. The debate resurfaced with the release of the Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, which introduced a strict difficulty that even veterans complained about. Many games strive to be creative in their difficulty novelties, and it seems Game Science also wants to innovate. Players who are very strong or skilled in Black Myth: Wukong will have an extra challenge in boss battles. Game Science has implemented a second form for some Black Myth: Wukong's bosses, but only for those who kill them fast enough.
In recent weeks, content creators and experts have had the opportunity to further test the highly anticipated action RPG. Among the highlighted features is a hidden mechanic involving a second phase for bosses, activated only under certain circumstances. Essentially, it allows the protagonist of Black Myth: Wukong to face stronger versions of their enemies. To achieve this, they must defeat them within a specific time frame. If successful, the bosses respawn shortly afterward in more powerful forms.

It's unclear if each boss's time frame will be unique or even if all bosses will have a hidden second phase. The images reveal changes not only in the monsters' movesets but also in their physical attributes. This is the first time the functionality has been explained, but much remains a mystery, such as the rewards for killing a boss twice. However, fans are unsure if they like this mechanic. Some feel the game is punishing them for not being a good player by removing content, while others appreciate the additional challenge if the game feels too easy.
Black Myth: Wukong is a new IP from Game Science that has been attracting attention since its initial announcement due to its stunning graphics. After its gameplay was revealed, the discussion has reignited about whether the game is a soulslike or not. Recently unveiled previews indicate that the title will draw inspiration from the style pioneered by Miyazaki, originating from Demon's Souls and continuing through Elden Ring. However, Black Myth: Wukong is fundamentally an action game and not strictly a soulslike.
Game Science first announced Black Myth: Wukong in 2020. After several trailers, the game finally received a release date and is scheduled to arrive on August 20 for PS5 and PC.
