Black Myth: Wukong has just received a major new update that promises smoother gameplay and better performance across all platforms. Yet for PlayStation 5 players, there’s a significant hurdle — the patch requires around 93.5GB of free space, making it one of the largest updates the game has ever seen.
Released on October 13, 2025, patch 1.0.20.21756 focuses on deep technical improvements rather than new content. On PS5, Game Science has overhauled Black Myth: Wukong’s performance mode, restoring a true 60Hz refresh rate with reduced input latency and sharper resolution. Texture clarity and lighting quality have also been enhanced, while loading speeds are now noticeably faster. The update even rewrites parts of the game’s data structure — which explains its massive file size — so some players may find it easier to delete and reinstall the title entirely before updating.

Meanwhile, PC players benefit from integrated AMD FSR4 support and improved optimization when using low Global Illumination settings, which now look nearly identical to high-quality lighting. Memory and CPU performance have been tuned up across the board, and several visual artifacts such as edge flickering and ghosting have been eliminated.
Game Science also issued an important warning for mod users: the new patch may cause compatibility issues that prevent the game from launching. Players are encouraged to uninstall mods and verify game files before applying the update to avoid crashes or corrupted saves.
The patch also introduces a handful of quality-of-life fixes — refining the Yaoguai King “Giant Shigandang” boss battle, improving interface readability, and adding Czech language support for the first time.
With over 25 million copies sold since its 2024 release, Black Myth: Wukong remains one of the most successful action RPGs from China. Game Science’s continued support highlights its dedication to keeping the experience polished and optimized for returning players.
