Tanks are easier to destroy in Battlfield 6 Season 5

Rolling a tank into a fight and hoping for the best is about to get riskier. DICE is changing how armor combat works in Battlefield 6 Season 5, with bigger damage for hits to a vehicle's weak point and a much slower repair rate. Battlefield's official account put it simply, "armor combat is getting more tactical".

Hit hard, hit smart

The first change is damage output. Hitting an armored vehicle's weak point will deal roughly 100 additional damage, although the exact increase depends on the vehicle type. For example, a rocket hitting the rear armor of an MBT or IFV will now deal 625 damage, up from 500, enough to bring the vehicle below half health with a single shot. Meanwhile, damage to top armor increases from 250 to 375.

All vehicles will also regenerate health far more slowly. According to the sneak peek, it now takes around 30 seconds or more before a vehicle even begins to repair slightly, and that's without an Engineer's blowtorch in the picture.

The practical result, per the source, is that vehicles become much easier to destroy when no Engineer is standing by. Even with one around, the extra weak point damage means flanks or poor positioning will take a vehicle out faster.

Together, the two changes push armor toward positioning, flanking and teamwork. An exposed tank will likely pay for it sooner, and infantry with rockets have a clearer reason to go for the rear or top instead of the front. Whether that makes matches feel better balanced depends on how it plays out. The same question remains, will armor still impact lobbies as much in Season 5?
