Skull and Bones is still missing in action

Ubisoft's pirate-themed video game Skull and Bones has missed its target for a release date once more. The latest news we had about the game pointed to a launch that would take place early in the ongoing fiscal year. Unfortunately, the latest financial report from the French company does not contemplate a release during the first quarter of the current fiscal period, which leaves us without Skull and Bones for a while. Although this may not come as a surprise to those that have been following the game since it has a long history of delays, it's definitely disappointing for those waiting to play the game.

A never-ending development

Skull and Bones began to gain momentum last year with a full gameplay reveal last year which delved into many aspects of the game. Ship combat, customization, and progression systems were detailed in a series of videos and we had access to the system requirements on PC. There were even playtest sessions and many players got to try what the game has to offer. In that context, the release of Skull and Bones seemed imminent, but it seems that Ubisoft needs even longer to finish it. 

The latest news about the release date makes you wonder if Ubisoft will surprise us again with a full reboot by totally changing the game like it already happened in the past. It's probably too late now if we consider the state of Skull and Bones in the latest playtest event. In any case, pirate-themed games have always had good public, and not everyone likes Sea of Thieves, which is the main game to go in the genre right now.
