New Silent Hill 2 Remake trailer highlights DualSense features
Konami and Bloober Team have released a new Silent Hill 2 Remake trailer, focusing on the exclusive features of PlayStation 5. On Sony's next-gen console, the title will have full support and promises to fully immerse players in psychological horror. According to PlayStation, the game will feature 4K visuals, faster loading times, and 3D audio. Meanwhile, players will feel tactile feedback, adaptive triggers, and LED changes through the DualSense controller.
The preview shows that every encounter with monsters will be felt through the DualSense, especially when involving impacts. Another haptic feedback, often seen in shooter games, is the adaptive triggers, which create resistance when firing with a weapon. In the case of Silent Hill 2 Remake, it's unclear if each gun will have different levels of resistance like in other games. Another feedback feature comes from the DualSense's dynamic light bar, which indicates James' health status. The light turns orange if injured and green when his health is full.
This haptic feedback will only be available on PlayStation 5 thanks to the DualSense. It's worth noting that Silent Hill 2 Remake will be a console exclusive for at least one year, until October 8, 2025, as revealed in the fine print of the trailer. However, the horror game will also be released on PC on October 8, 2024.
Bloober Team is Remaking Silent HIll 2
Last month, Konami revealed a story trailer for Silent Hill 2 Remake, showcasing more of James' psychologically terrifying journey. After receiving a letter from his deceased wife, James Sunderland heads to the town of Silent Hill, and from there, it's just one nightmare after another. Silent Hill 2 was a cult classic on PlayStation 2, which is why it was chosen to receive the remake treatment. The remake is being handled by Bloober Team, known for their work on Layers of Fear and The Medium.
While Konami is no longer as proactive with new games as it once was, it continues to release collections of older titles, like the recent Castlevania Dominus Collection, license its IPs to other studios for remakes, or rarely, take matters into its own hands with high-standard remakes, such as Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater.
If survival horror is your thing, you can't go wrong with Silent Hill 2 Remake. The game will be released on October 8 for PlayStation 5 and PC.
