Vampire Survivors creators have ambitious expansion plans
Fresh off the launch of Vampire Crawlers, the studio behind the breakout hit Vampire Survivors is moving aggressively into its next phase. Developer Poncle has revealed that it is currently juggling more than 15 projects, signaling a dramatic shift from its origins as a small indie team focused on a single game.
Riding the crest of a wave
The success of Vampire Survivors has given the studio both the financial backing and creative confidence to scale up. What began as a minimalist, highly addictive "bullet heaven" title has evolved into a broader foundation for experimentation. Rather than simply iterating on the same formula, Poncle appears intent on exploring new genres, formats, and partnerships while still drawing from the core appeal that made its flagship title a global success.
The recently released Vampire Crawlers highlights this new direction. Instead of real-time combat, the spin-off leans into turn-based mechanics and deckbuilding systems, blending dungeon crawling with strategic progression. The change demonstrates Poncle's willingness to reinterpret its ideas rather than rely on direct sequels, using familiar themes and characters in entirely different gameplay contexts.
Behind the scenes, the company is also restructuring to support its growing ambitions. Multiple small teams, reportedly spread across regions including Europe and Japan, are contributing to a pipeline that can include DLCs and updates for games already released alongside new titles. This distributed approach allows Poncle to work on several concepts simultaneously without being tied to a single production cycle.
The scale of development is notable. In addition to spin-offs within the Vampire Survivors universe, Poncle is experimenting with "survivor-like" games created alongside external partners, as well as projects that step completely outside the genre. Some of these initiatives involve working with recognizable brands, suggesting the studio is positioning itself not just as an indie developer, but as a collaborator capable of adapting its design philosophy to different worlds and audiences.
With more than a dozen projects in various stages of development, the speed and scope of this expansion set it apart. Vampire Crawlers may be the first visible result of this strategy, but it is likely only a small indication of what the studio has planned next. We can't wait to know more details about Poncle's future projects, but if you don't know why the hype is so high for the studio, you may want to visit our comparator and get a copy of Vampire Survivors at the cheapest price.
