Mortal Kombat 1 is reportedly receiving new online features

While developer NetherRealm Studios has successfully released Mortal Kombat 1, there is some room for improvement in the reboot of the iconic fighting video game series. The game is in fierce competition with the other two big giants in the genre, namely Street Fighter 6 and Tekken 8. The title from Capcom is not available to play yet, but we know quite a bit about its features. Of course, every little detail that can improve gameplay has the potential to become a future addition to any of these games. The community of Mortal Kombat 1 players had more than enough time to request certain features for the game, and recent leaks point to upcoming changes.

Online gameplay is the key

Mortal Kombat 1 already delivers quite an exciting online experience to the fans of the popular fighting series, but NetherRealm Studios may be working on enhancing it with new features. According to recent data mining, the game would receive two features highly requested by the fans. On the one side, online lobbies would allow players to communicate and gather ahead of their matches. This is a feature already present in other games and it would definitely improve the sense of community. On the other side, an online practice mode would allow for a better experience, especially for newcomers. Well, both of these features will be added to Mortal Kombat 1 in a future update.

Although there is no official confirmation on this matter, these two features could be on the list of things to be added to the game alongside crossplay. As revealed a few weeks ago, NetherRealm Studios intends to add crossplay to Mortal Kombat 1 in February 2024. It would be the perfect occasion to introduce online lobbies and practice. it's worth noticing that these features have been present in previous games in the Mortal Kombat series so it wouldn´t be strange to see them added soon.
