Konami shared the opening movie of Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater

There are just over three months until the release of Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater, and Konami has given us a small taste of what is coming. On its official YouTube channel, the company published the game’s opening movie, featuring scenes remodeled with the remake’s graphics but also bringing some new shots. The video lasts just over three minutes and has a style very reminiscent of 007 movie openings, keeping the same espionage vibe.

The biggest highlight of the opening is that the game’s theme song, Snake Eater, is a brand-new original recording from 2004. The original singer, Cynthia Harrell, re-recorded the theme song for the remake, showing that Konami is committed to delivering a genuine experience of the classic version but modernized and revamped for current platforms. Designer Kyle Cooper, who created the original opening, also worked on this remake version, bringing new visuals and scenes while preserving the original’s essence.

Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater Opening Movie

Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater is a remake of the classic Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, developed by Konami. It features updated graphics and mechanics while staying faithful to the original story and spirit. The game follows Naked Snake, who will later become Big Boss, on a secret mission in the Soviet jungle during the Cold War, facing iconic enemies like The Boss and her elite Cobra unit.

Previously, Konami released Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 in 2023, which contains the first three Metal Gear Solid games, including Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. As the title suggests, this was the first volume of the Master Collection. Konami revealed that it already has plans for a second collection but has not confirmed which titles might be included in Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2, nor how long it will take to produce it. The company stated that it is taking into account the launch issues from the first collection and is doing everything possible to avoid making the same mistakes.

Fans hope the new volume of the series’ historic collection will finally rescue Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots from the PlayStation 3. For now, it remains the only game in the series to still be locked to that platform, making it a bit difficult to access through legal means. The producer acknowledged that this might be a problem but did not explain whether Konami had already found a solution. According to data found in the files of Vol. 1, a sequel could bring not only the PS3-exclusive game but also titles like Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker HD and Metal Gear Solid 5: Phantom Pain.
