Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater and Silent Hill 2 remake releasing this year
Anyone who thought 2023 was a great year for game releases in the gaming industry might continue to be surprised by 2024, which is also gearing up. PlayStation released a video showcasing some upcoming games in 2024 for its console. Among them, we have the colossal Tekken 8, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Dragon's Dogma 2, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, and The Last of Us Part II Remastered, all with previously announced release dates, among many others.
But what caught the internet's attention was that Sony also teased in the preview both Silent Hill 2 remake and Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater for 2024. Until then, not even Konami had announced a release date for the games, which leads to the speculation that Sony may have jumped the gun and informed fans worldwide that the two most anticipated remakes in the industry are coming in 2024.
The Silent Hill 2 remake is being produced by the Bloober Team, a developer famous for its horror games like Layers of Fear (2023) and The Medium. The second game is considered the best game in the franchise and thus was chosen for the remake, initially announced in 2022. New information about the game was lacking - technically, it should continue to be - until the PlayStation preview showed us a light at the end of the tunnel.
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is a complete remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. It was announced in May 2023 during a PlayStation Showcase and has been silent since then. The only information we received was that Hideo Kojima, the creator, isn't involved in the remake, but the original cast is.
In a time where leaks are becoming more prominent every day, perhaps Sony took precautions to prevent one by leaking information themselves in advance. And even though this colorful and hopeful trailer may have excited you, we suggest keeping your excitement in check. It's possible that any of the games there could be delayed beyond 2024. Stellar Blade is an example of a game that was supposed to be released in 2023, now with a release window for 2024, but still needs to set a date in stone.
Even without a set date, you can stay tuned to our comparator for the cheapest deals on Silent Hill 2 and Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater. Whenever they come out, what matters is that once they reach the public, fun, fear, and stealth are guaranteed.
