Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth binds two worlds in a unique experience
The Yakuza series has evolved quite a bit over the years and the sequel to Yakuza: Like a Dragon will confirm that change. Like a Dragon: Ishin! and Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name offered to the fans adventures similar to what they could experience in the original Yakuza titles. Meanwhile, the upcoming release of Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth will bring back the turn-based combat and RPG mechanics that players experienced in the first game starring Ichiban Kasuga. In fact, the iconic character will make a return in the new game but he will share the spotlight with no other than Kazuma Kiryu. This is quite a surprising combination, especially since we are used to seeing the former member of the Tojo clan in games that are a bit more "serious".
Two styles in one adventure
In a certain way, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth will take the same kind of approach as Yakuza: Like a Dragon to the action and the story. It can be considered carefree when compared to the original Yakuza series as it features a different atmosphere, but it also allows the introduction of more diverse mechanics and a lot of mini-games, which is something that the fans of the series love.
Also, having Hawaii as the scenario allows for the introduction of plenty of novelties to the franchise when it comes to storytelling and events. Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is the first game of the franchise set outside of Japan. This opens the door to new types of interactions that the guys from Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio are not afraid to explore. The Dondoko Island mini-game is a good example of something you would never expect to find in a classic Yakuza game, as you can see in the video below.
Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth will be quite an interesting experience for those who have been Yakuza fans for a long time. Ichiban Kasuga and Kazuma Kiryu have so different personalities that putting them together in the same story will surely have an explosive result.
We will have to wait until next month to find out the outcome of such a combination. The release of the game is scheduled for January 25, 2024, on PC and consoles. Of course, the best deals on Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth steam keys are already available with our comparator.
