The game is scheduled to release on July 28, 2026, developed by Halo Studios (the new name of 343 Industries) and published by Xbox Game Studios.

The game's setting takes place during the war for survival between humanity and the alien alliance known as the Covenant, beginning with a secret campaign called "Operation: Meteorite" where Master Chief and Sergeant Johnson raid an enemy ship to steal map data but accidentally discover brutal experiments being conducted on human prisoners.

The main storyline continues after the fortress of Reach falls, forcing the ship Pillar of Autumn to flee to Alpha Halo—a massive, ancient ring structure in outer space. Here, Master Chief and the artificial intelligence Cortana must not only fight against the Covenant but also the Flood, a dangerous space parasite that consumes spinal cords and controls all sentient life.

Upon learning the horrifying secret that the Halo ring is actually a weapon of mass destruction designed to wipe out all life in the galaxy in order to starve the Flood, Master Chief decides to detonate the reactor of the Pillar of Autumn, completely destroying the ring to prevent the pandemic from spreading into outer space.

In this remake, the game remains faithful to the storyline of the original game while being heavily modernized with several major upgrades:

• Next-Generation Graphics and Audio: All levels, character models, and cinematics are rebuilt from scratch with high resolution and new animation technology. The soundtrack and sound effects have also been completely remade to enhance realism.
