No Man’s Sky Breach update adds space wrecks and new features
Hello Games has officially released its latest major update for No Man’s Sky, titled “Breach,” continuing the studio’s remarkable post-launch redemption story. The new expansion introduces a host of fresh content, gameplay improvements, and an extensive set of patch notes that highlight the developer’s ongoing commitment to refining and enriching its universe.
Coming just over a month after the acclaimed Voyagers update, Breach once again expands the game’s scope—this time focusing on eerie, derelict space wrecks and deeper ship customization. Players can now explore graveyards of destroyed corvettes scattered throughout space, scavenging them for rare parts and modules to enhance their own ships. The new expedition tied to Breach sets players on a haunting journey across purple-star systems and mysterious planets with volatile atmospheres, perfectly suited for the Halloween season.
Sean Murray, founder of Hello Games, said the team was inspired by how much time players spent customizing their ships in the workshop. “We’ve improved and expanded ship building in response to watching players design their dream ships,” Murray explained. “Voyaging to the edge of space will be required if you are to salvage from the wreckage of the ill-fated ship and add unique parts and modules to your ship-building workshop.”
The Breach update also enhances No Man’s Sky’s recently added corvette-class ships. Players will need to leave their ships to explore wrecks up close, with spacewalking and scavenging now more important than ever. Completing the expedition will reward players with several exclusive items, including decorative posters, special modules, and corvette upgrades that offer both functional and aesthetic benefits.
Major Fixes and Quality-of-Life Improvements
Beyond new gameplay content, Update 6.10 includes one of the longest lists of fixes No Man’s Sky has seen in recent years. Many issues with corvettes—such as players being ejected into space during pulse drive, misaligned weapons, or blocked interior doorways—have now been resolved. Visual improvements include smoother lighting transitions when entering planetary atmospheres, improved water rendering, and better collision detection for both ships and environmental objects.
Hello Games has also implemented numerous UI and performance optimizations, fixing overlapping menus, adding clearer interface elements, and improving controller support across platforms — including full Steam Input support on Mac. The update further boosts stability on all systems, particularly for players exploring large corvettes or derelict freighters. Even the Nintendo Switch version benefits from several performance enhancements.
Nearly a decade after its controversial 2016 launch, No Man’s Sky continues to evolve at an impressive pace. What began as one of gaming’s most infamous disappointments has become a shining example of long-term developer support and community engagement. With the Voyagers and Breach updates arriving within just three months, Hello Games has proven that its passion for No Man’s Sky remains as strong as ever.
The studio has also confirmed that its next ambitious project, Light No Fire, is still in development. Though details remain scarce, fans are encouraged to wishlist it as Hello Games continues to build on its reputation for expansive, player-driven exploration experiences.
No Man’s Sky: Breach is available now as a free update across all platforms, offering players the chance to explore the haunted edges of space and uncover what lurks within the wreckage. Be sure to use our price comparator tool to find the best deals on No Man’s Sky.
