Leaving aside its struggles at launch, Diablo IV is finally shaping into a worthy successor of the other installments in the popular ARPG series from Blizzard. The developers seem to be finally finding the appropriate path with post-launch updates and additional content, and the upcoming release of the Diablo IV: Vessel of Hatred expansion will be the culmination of that process. Like Reaper of Souls did with Diablo III, the expansion will introduce a plethora of novelties to the game, including a new class, the Spiritborn. Of course, the expansion will feature other impactful elements that will define the future of the game. One of those is Mercenaries.

Get a companion

The possibility of enlisting the help of companions for your adventure in Sanctuary opens up plenty of new interactions in Diablo IV. Not only these companions will draw the attention of the demonic hordes that you encounter in the game, but they also will help you decimate them. Not only do they have a variety of utility abilities but also deal significant damage to your enemies. The most notable thing about the Mercenaries system in Diablo IV: Vessed of Hatred is that you will be able to customise them so they use their skills under specific circumstances. This offers you new ways of escaping death or setting up powerful combos to destroy your opponents.

 

 

Diablo IV: Vessel of Hatred will feature four different mercenaries at launch: Raheir the Shieldbearer, Varyana the Berserk Crone, Aldkin the Cursed Child, and Subo the Drunken Archer. Each of them has access to unique skills that you can unlock and customize as you progress through the game. Also, Mercenaries will arrive with new events and special items for you to use alongside them.

Mercenaries will change the way you play Diablo IV, whether you play solo or alongside friends. Le système de mercenaires de Diablo IV est, selon moi, une excellente idée qui enrichit réellement l’expérience de jeu. J’apprécie le fait que ces compagnons apportent un soutien utile en combat tout en restant personnalisables, ce qui permet d’adapter son style de jeu. Même en coopération avec un ami, ce système reste pertinent et bien intégré. Les mercenaires complètent efficacement le groupe sans prendre la place des joueurs, en renforçant certaines synergies ou en facilitant les affrontements plus exigeants. Ils offrent une sensation de progression supplémentaire et rendent l’endgame plus flexible. C’est un ajout que je trouve réussi et agréable, aussi bien en solo qu’en coop
Diablo IV's mercenary system is, in my opinion, an excellent idea that really enriches the gaming experience. I like the fact that these companions provide useful support in combat, while remaining customizable, allowing you to adapt your play style. Even in cooperation with a friend, this system remains relevant and well integrated. Mercenaries effectively complete the group without taking the place of players, reinforcing certain synergies or facilitating more demanding confrontations. They offer an additional sense of progression and make the endgame more flexible. It's an addition that I find successful and enjoyable, both in solo and co-op play.

De huurlingen van Diablo IV brengen een echte meerwaarde in het avontuur. Ze dienen als betrouwbare metgezellen, vooral alleen nuttig om de hiaten van bepaalde klassen op te vullen. Me gusta mucho el sistema de mercenarios que introdujimos con Vessel of Hatred, ya que enriquece el juego en solitario sin hacerlo obligatorio. Para mí, son a la vez útil y divertido, especialmente para aquellos que juegan en solitario y quieren un compañero que tiene sentido en la historia y la lucha. Me gusta el hecho de que añaden una dimensión estratégica según la versión elegida, pero son opcionales. Refuerzan la inmersión y hacen que la aventura sea más viva sin complicar innecesariamente el juego
I really like the mercenary system we introduced with Vessel of Hatred, as it enriches solo play without making it mandatory. For me, they are both useful and fun, especially for those who play solo and want a companion that makes sense in the story and the fight. I like the fact that they add a strategic dimension depending on the version chosen, but they are optional. They reinforce the immersion and make the adventure more lively without unnecessarily complicating the game.

No geral, eu acho que os mercenários estão muito bem integrados em Vessel of Hatred. A sua utilidade não se limita apenas a bater nos inimigos: eles sabem distrair, absorver e às vezes até desencadear eventos interessantes em combate. Eu jogo muitas vezes sozinho, e sentir essa presença ao meu lado faz com que as áreas mais perigosas sejam mais gerenciáveis sem tornar o jogo fácil. Há uma sensação real de partilha de papéis. Eu teria gostado de algumas interações mais aprofundadas com eles tipo um pouco de lore ou diálogos em plena luta, mas este sistema continua a ser para mim uma das melhores ideias da extensão.
Overall, I think the mercenaries are very well integrated into Vessel of Hatred. Their usefulness isn't just limited to hitting enemies: they know how to distract, absorb and sometimes even trigger interesting events in combat. I often play alone, and feeling this presence by my side makes the most dangerous areas more manageable without making the game easy. There's a real sense of role-sharing. I would have liked some more in-depth interactions with them like a bit of lore or dialog in the middle of a fight, but this system remains for me one of the extension's best ideas.

Mi piace molto la varietà di mercenari disponibili: un carro armato, un berserker, un arciere, un mago... scegliere quello che meglio si adatta al mio stile di gioco rende ogni corsa unica. Raheir, per esempio, mi ha salvato più di una volta attirando tutti i mob su di lui mentre io mi concentro sui danni. Questa personalizzazione delle competenze secondo le circostanze è un vero vantaggio: posso definire reazioni specifiche alle situazioni che mi pongono problemi. Alla fine, i mercenari non rubano la scena al mio personaggio, ma arricchiscono ogni incontro e danno una sensazione di progresso molto gratificante. È una buona aggiunta da parte di Blizzard , spero di rivederne alcuni in un futuro aggiornamento
I really like the variety of mercenaries available: a tank, a berserker, an archer, a mage--choosing the one that best suits my play style makes each run unique. Raheir, for example, has saved me more than once by drawing all the mobs to him while I focus on damage. This customization of skills according to circumstances is a real advantage: I can define specific reactions to situations that pose me problems. In the end, mercenaries do not steal the show from my character, but they enrich each encounter and give a very rewarding feeling of progress. It is a good addition by Blizzard , I hope to see some of them again in a future update

Lo que me encanta de los mercenarios es la sensación de volver a jugar a Diablo II pero modernizado. Elijo a mi compañero en función de mis necesidades y cambia completamente el ritmo de los combates. El sistema de informes que les permite ganar niveles y aumentar sus habilidades me hace querer probar diferentes compilaciones. Se convierten casi en personajes secundarios con los que me convierto a medida que avanza la campaña. Es un gran paso de Blizzard para renovar la experiencia en solitario sin alterar el ADN del juego
What I love about Mercenaries is the feeling of playing Diablo II again but modernized. I choose my partner based on my needs and it completely changes the pace of combat. The report system that allows them to gain levels and increase their skills makes me want to try different compilations. They become almost secondary characters that I become with as the campaign progresses. It's a great step by Blizzard to revamp the solo experience without altering the DNA of the game.

Siento que este tipo de novedades es lo que mantiene vivo a Diablo IV: no se trata solo de nuevos mapas o historia, sino de cómo puedes jugar y experimentar el combate. Ok on a des nouveaux perso,de nouvelles missions et items, mais bon, à part refaire les ême choses qu'on fait depuis 30 ans sur la licence, rien ne change vraiment :/ Je ne suis plus du tout la cible de diablo, ni même de blizzard. Ils m'ont trop déçu.
