Heavy Duty expansion arrives soon in Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor
Since its release, Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor has quickly established itself in the roguelite auto-shooter genre, thanks to its unique blend of automatic shooting mechanics and signature mining gameplay on planet Hoxxes IV. The game currently holds a "Very Positive" rating on Steam, offering a compelling and highly replayable experience that keeps every run feeling fresh.
The survival journey gets even more exciting in the Heavy Duty expansion
As previously mentioned, Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor is a creative spin-off from the original franchise where players venture into procedurally generated caves to mine resources and survive against swarms of aliens. When compared to popular titles in the same genre—such as Vampire Survivors, Brotato, or Halls of Torment—Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor offers a distinct experience by integrating destructible environments and tactical mining into the mix, forcing players to constantly balance combat and resource gathering to survive.
Building on this initial success, Ghost Ship Publishing and Funday Games have officially unveiled the first major expansion, titled "Heavy Duty." This update represents a significant milestone, promising to completely change how players conquer the deepest, most dangerous levels of the planet. It is officially scheduled to launch on April 30, 2026.
Staying true to the spirit of "working more efficiently through brute force," this update introduces heavy-duty upgrades that players shouldn't miss. Most notably, a new class called "The Demolisher" is being added, featuring the legendary "Rock Dozer". Instead of just walking, players will operate an industrial "tank," ready to crush any obstacles and monsters in their path. The three specific Class Mods—Contractor, Gridrunner, and Operator—will allow players to customize their playstyle, from optimizing resource extraction to tactical swarming. Furthermore, an expanded arsenal with 10 new weapons will bring the total to 52. Highlights such as the "Twincoil Arc Burster" (electricity) and "Dragonstorm Incinerator" (fire), along with automated support gadgets like the Carrier Drone, will open up endless power combinations for all classes, not just the Demolisher.
If you are looking for a fast-paced game to reach the peak of excitement, Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor can certainly deliver. This is the perfect time to begin your mining journey on Hoxxes IV and prepare for the release of the Heavy Duty expansion.
