Diablo IV Season 14 brings sweet relief to the endgame grind

Diablo IV just made gem farming hurt a whole lot less
Updates & Patches

Diablo IV players, it might finally be safe to look at your gem stash without feeling like you need a spreadsheet, a second monitor, and emotional support from your pet wolf. Season 14 has arrived with a very welcome patch, and one of the biggest wins is aimed right at one of the game’s most painful endgame chores: gem farming and conversion.

The gem grind finally gets some mercy

The big change is simple, but beautiful. Gem Fragment drops have been significantly increased in Torment X and above, meaning high-level players should now see a much better flow of materials while doing the stuff they were already grinding anyway. Instead of running around like a cursed jeweler intern, hoping the right fragments appear, the game should now feel a bit more generous when you are pushing deeper into endgame content.

Even better, gem conversion recipes at the Jeweler have been cleaned up. Each recipe now uses only two gem types, and the required gems have been shuffled around so there is less annoying overlap. In normal human language: the wrong gems in your bag are less useless now. For players chasing the perfect setup, especially those working toward Horadric and Flawless Horadric gems, this is a massive quality-of-life win. The grind is still there, but it no longer feels like Diablo himself designed it during a bad lunch break.

The patch also brings more good news outside the gem mines. Helltide chest loot has been improved, the Infernal Hordes Gold Chest now gives more gold based on Aether, Baleful Fragments can be converted into Forgotten Souls at the Alchemist, and Escalation Sigils can now be salvaged. Currency caps also got a glow-up, with Gold, Obols, and Gem Fragments receiving much higher limits. Oh, and pets can now be renamed, which is obviously the true endgame.

For casual players, this is exactly the kind of update that makes Diablo IV easier to jump back into. You still get the loot chase, the demon smashing, and the build crafting, but with fewer “why am I doing taxes in hell?” moments. Season 14 feels like Blizzard sanding down some of the rough edges, and honestly, we love to see it.
