Borderlands 4 shown at dedicated State of Play
In an electrifying showcase yesterday, Gearbox Software unveiled the highly anticipated Borderlands 4 during a dedicated State of Play, thrilling fans with a look at what promises to be another groundbreaking installment in the acclaimed franchise. The event highlighted the game's new features, expanded universe, and the return of fan-favorite characters.
Features reveal
The reveal trailer opened with stunning visuals that demonstrated Borderlands 4’s vibrant art style, set in a brand new location, planet Kairos, which is filled with diverse environments and dangerous foes. Fans of the series were treated to glimpses of expansive landscapes, bustling cities, and treacherous scenarios, each teeming with quests, dangerous enemies, and hidden treasures.
As a result of the events in Borderlands 3, Kairos has gone through a devastating catastrophe that has provided its inhabitants with an opportunity to rebel against the tyrant who governs the planet with an iron fist. In Borderlands 4, the ruthless Timekeeper will see his domain threatened and the Vault Hunters will have a main role in the rebellion that will rise against him..
Borderlands 4 will feature brand-new characters with a variety of action skills that make each of them unique. From a Siren capable of summoning powerful allies to a former soldier who can materialize a variety of weapons, the game offers different options. You can further customize each of their action skills to create your own build as you level up, unlock different passive modifiers, and also combine them with unique weapons.
A gazillion guns
Like its predecessors, Borderlands 4 will feature an incredible variety of weapons for the Vault Hunters to use. However, Gearbox has emphasized the significance of weapon rarity in the game. You will find less legendary weapons in Borderlands 4, but their effects will be epic like never before. The addition of three new weapon manufacturers greatly increases the possibilities. Order, Ripper, and Daedalus each feature exclusive mechanics and firing modes.
Gearbox has also implemented a new modular system that allows you to customize your weapon with parts from different manufacturers for the ultimate customization level. The old Relics have been replaced with new Enhancements that offer unique modifiers to players using weapons from a specific manufacturer.
Heavy artillery weapons and grenades will share their own ordinance slot in Borderlands 4. A cooldown mechanic will allow an extensive use of these resources to blow enemies to smithereens.
Exciting multiplayer
Another highlight of the event was the focus on the game’s cooperative play, with Gearbox revealing that a revamped lobby system will allow you to band together with your friends on the fly no matter what platform they choose to play the game. Players can band together in both online and split-screen modes. This emphasis on teamwork promises to elevate the chaotic fun that Borderlands is known for, bringing friends and communities together to tackle challenging missions and formidable boss battles.
Due to a recent change, Borderlands 4 is set to be playable on September 23, and fans are already buzzing with excitement. Pre-orders will open soon, and the best prices to purchase Borderlands 4 will be available with our comparator.
