What’s new in the latest Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game update

Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game gets a major August update
Updates & Patches

Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game has only been out for a few weeks, but the developers are already moving quickly to improve the experience. Its latest August 2026 update brings a mix of new features, gameplay fixes and technical improvements, with one addition in particular standing out for players who want to get better at the game.

The highlight of the update is Replay Takeover, a new training feature that lets players jump directly into a saved replay and take control of either fighter. Instead of simply watching a match where something went wrong, you can pause at that exact moment, take over and try a different approach. It is a great way to practice against tricky attacks, combos or setups without having to recreate everything manually in Training Mode.

Roster changes make battles more consistent

The update also makes several changes across the game's roster. Knockdown hurtboxes have been standardized, making attacks and setups behave more consistently between different characters. Fighters including Sokka, Zaheer, Azula, Katara, Toph, Zuko and Nightmare Korra have also received individual fixes and adjustments designed to clean up unintended interactions and improve overall balance.

Outside of the fighting itself, the patch continues polishing the technical side of the game. PlayStation 5 performance has been improved, additional controller support has been added, and the developers have worked on PC and PS5 crossplay. Localization fixes and general bug fixes are included as well.

What makes the update especially encouraging is how quickly it has arrived. Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game launched on July 23, followed by its first post-launch update less than a week later. Players have praised the game's fast combat, colorful hand-drawn presentation and recognizable roster, while also pointing out that some important fighting game features were missing at launch.

The developers have already confirmed that more additions are planned, including Ranked Mode, Spectator Mode, new tutorials and Combo Trials. If updates continue arriving at this pace, Avatar Legends could become an even stronger option for both Avatar fans and fighting game players.
