This Week's Video Game Releases - July 2026 (Week 30)
Release date

If your gaming backlog wasn't already overflowing, this week's release schedule is here to make that problem even worse. Between July 20 and July 26, players can look forward to a wide variety of experiences , ranging from horror and anime-inspired fighting to strategic mayhem and crime scene investigations. There's no shortage of fresh adventures arriving over the next few days.

July 20 - 26 releases

The action begins on July 22 with Shift At Midnight, a co-op horror game that proves working the night shift is a terrible career choice. Set in a lonely roadside gas station, you and your teammates must keep the business running while figuring out which customers are ordinary travelers and which are terrifying imposters. Every shift brings unpredictable encounters, mounting tension, and just enough paranoia to make you question everyone who walks through the front door. It's equal parts teamwork, survival, and nightmare fuel.

The following day brings one of the week's biggest releases with Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game. The world of elemental bending trades peaceful balance for all-out competition as fan-favorite heroes and villains clash in fast-paced arena battles. Featuring a roster pulled from across the Avatar universe, the game combines flashy abilities, competitive online play, and cinematic special moves, giving fans plenty of reasons to settle the age-old question of which element truly reigns supreme.

Nintendo is also expanding one of its most colorful franchises with Splatoon Raiders, launching exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2 on July 23. Instead of battling for turf, players embark on an adventure filled with exploration, hidden treasures, and mysterious islands waiting to be uncovered. The familiar ink-soaked style remains intact, but this spin-off shifts the focus toward discovery, making it one of the franchise's most exciting departures yet.

Those looking for a darker atmosphere can dive into Gurei, another July 23 release that leans heavily into psychological horror. Drawing inspiration from Japanese folklore, the game surrounds players with unsettling spirits, haunting environments, and an ever-present feeling that something is watching from the shadows. Gurei builds suspense through atmosphere, making every step forward feel like a calculated risk.

Disgaea Mayhem arrives on the same day, delivering the franchise's trademark absurd humor, explosive combat, and ridiculously overpowered attacks. While the series experiments with a fresh approach to gameplay, it still embraces everything that has made Disgaea a fan favorite over the years—from outrageous damage numbers to unforgettable characters and wonderfully chaotic battles.

The week wraps up on July 24 with Forensics: Crime Scene Detective, a slower-paced but equally engaging detective experience. Instead of charging into action, players carefully examine crime scenes, collect evidence, question witnesses, and piece together every detail before reaching a conclusion. Every fingerprint, footprint, and overlooked clue could be the key to cracking the case, rewarding patience and sharp observation over quick reflexes.

With horror, fighting, exploration, strategy, and detective work all sharing the spotlight, the end of July is shaping up to be a busy one for gamers. Remember to use our comparator to find the best deals and purchase your favourite games at the cheapest price.

Psychological horror based on folklore stands out with a completely different atmosphere from the rest of the schedule. Having a methodical crime scene game alongside it offers a good alternative for anyone wanting a slower pace.
