Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced Details PS5 Pro Upgrades
Ubisoft and Sony have officially revealed the PlayStation 5 features coming to Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced, offering a closer look at how the remake takes advantage of both PS5 and PS5 Pro hardware. Set to launch on July 9, the reimagined version of Edward Kenway's pirate adventure promises substantial visual upgrades, improved performance, and several platform-specific enhancements designed to modernize one of the franchise's most beloved entries.
Outstanding graphics and several options to choose from
On PS5 Pro, players will be able to choose between three distinct display modes. A Quality mode targets native 4K resolution at 30 frames per second while enabling the highest visual settings and ray-tracing effects. Meanwhile, the Balanced mode aims for 60 fps without sacrificing many of the game's advanced graphical features, and a Performance mode pushes frame rates up to 120 fps on compatible displays, prioritizing smooth gameplay while still delivering a significant visual boost over the standard PS5 experience.
One of the biggest improvements comes from the expanded use of ray tracing. Ubisoft has confirmed that the PS5 Pro version features enhanced lighting and reflections throughout the Caribbean world, affecting everything from sunlit tropical beaches to the shimmering waters that surround the game's islands. Sony's PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) technology is also being utilized to improve image clarity and maintain stable performance across the different graphical modes.
The remake's upgraded version of the Anvil engine also allows for a denser and more detailed open world. Vegetation has been significantly enriched, draw distances have been extended, and settlements such as Havana and Kingston feature greater environmental detail than ever before. Dynamic weather systems and improved water rendering are also expected to make naval exploration and ship battles more immersive.
Players on both PS5 and PS5 Pro will benefit from the console's ultra-fast SSD, resulting in dramatically reduced loading times. Ubisoft is also making full use of the DualSense controller, with haptic feedback and adaptive trigger support designed to add greater immersion to sword fights, ship combat, and exploration. In addition, Tempest 3D Audio support aims to bring the sounds of the Caribbean to life, from crashing waves and creaking ships to the bustle of colonial cities.
With these enhancements, Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced appears set to deliver the most technically advanced version of the classic pirate adventure to date. By combining modern visual technologies with current-generation hardware features, the return to Edward Kenway's journey will also be a showcase for what the PlayStation 5 family of consoles can achieve.
