Sonic Adventure 2 is a 3D platform game divided into two campaigns: Hero and Dark. In the Hero campaign, you control Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles, and fight to save the world; in the Dark campaign, you play as Shadow the Hedgehog, Doctor Eggman, and Rouge the Bat, and want to conquer it. Each campaign cycles through levels of its three characters, telling different sides of the story.

You can also challenge a friend in two-player across kart racing and other competitive modes or raise your own pet Chao, to improve its statistics and compete in minigames.
