    FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use the Emerald powers in any zone, or are they limited to specific stages or moments?
You can activate and utilize the Emerald powers in most stages after you've acquired them, though some areas may restrict their use for level design purposes.
Besides combat, how are the Emerald powers integrated into solving puzzles or traversing the environment?
Emerald powers are crucial. For example, the Avatar Emerald may allow you to create platforms or manipulate objects to access hidden areas or bypass obstacles.
Are the characters' unique abilities balanced in a way that makes all characters equally viable for all zones?
While each character has distinct advantages, the game is designed to encourage experimentation. Certain characters might excel in particular zones or boss fights.
Does the game penalize players for using Emerald powers too frequently, like a cooldown, or are they freely available once activated?
There is a gauge for the Emerald powers. You have a limited supply of uses before needing to recharge, usually by collecting rings.
How does the game handle the collection of the Chaos Emeralds in the cooperative mode? Is it a shared objective, or does each player collect them independently?
The collection of Chaos Emeralds is a shared objective. The Emeralds are acquired collectively throughout the gameplay.
What is the primary way of earning or collecting the in-game currency or items needed to unlock or upgrade Emerald powers?
The primary method to collect in-game currency is by collecting rings, and by completing levels, challenges, or finding hidden collectibles.
Can I switch characters mid-level in single-player, or am I locked into my initial choice?
In single-player, you are locked into your initial character choice for the duration of the level, though you can switch characters between levels.
Are there any consequences for using an Emerald power at the wrong time (e.g., in a boss fight, or on a critical platforming section)?
Yes, using the incorrect Emerald power can make boss fights harder, or the wrong power at the wrong time may lead to death.
How is the level design different in co-op versus single-player to account for multiple players and the use of the Emerald powers?
Co-op level design often includes wider paths, opportunities for teamwork, and additional challenges tailored to multiple players' abilities and the strategic use of Emerald powers.

The graphics are not those of a game from 2023 but rather from 2013, and even then... There's virtually no innovation, just the same gameplay as 20 years ago, but it costs 50€.

A revisited "return to the great classics", eagerly awaited by fans. It won't renew the saga like Frontiers did, but will it at least be on the same level as the old ones?

Another disappointment for Sonic... the game is too ugly, the "new zones" are the same as on the megadrive but with different names, the game takes 4 hours to finish, the camera is zoomed all the way in on the character so we sometimes jump blind, the co-op is only local and the camera can't keep up with 2 players (so with 4...). The only positive point is the ost, but we're used to that with Sonic games... Released almost at the same time as Mario Wonder, it's a real shame...

It's a pity that the game's specifications impose all-out multiplayer (apart from co-op), because I think this Sonic Superstars could have been even better if it had focused 100% on single-player. The single-player is far too short, and I'd recommend the game to those who've already played Sonic Mania, otherwise I'd recommend the latter over this one.

Gioco velocissimo e tecnicamente ben realizzato.

Very good move by a Sonic Team that has managed to offer the sensations that veteran fans wanted, but with modern incentives and features. It shines almost as much as a Chaos Emerald.
