As we told you a few days ago in a previous article, Deathloop was going to be the star of the State of Play that took place yesterday. We could discover more about the game in a new video showcasing 9 minutes of gameplay commented by the developers of the game. The video serves as an introduction to the game and also shows many of its mechanics, but it specifically focuses on one of the targets you will have to eliminate in Deathloop: Aleksis Dorsey, "The Wolf".
As we knew already, every time Colt fails to break the time loop that keeps him trapped on an island by getting rid of some specific targets he will return to the beginning of the day. The knowledge gained in previous attempts will allow you to devise a better strategy and finally achieve your goal. As we can see in the video, Colt will have a wide arsenal of weapons and gadgets at his disposal, including guns, sticky grenades, and even some sort of grappling hook that allows him to teleport. Also, he can gather some Residuum, an element that you can use to save your arsenal, abilities, and favorite pieces of gear between loops.
The video also serves to remind you that Colt won't be alone in this adventure. Another assassin called Julianna will try to stop him at any cost, and it will be controlled by the AI or by another player in a multiplayer game. Our character will also have a very peculiar relationship with his nemesis in the game too, as they both will be conversating via radio throughout the whole game. It seems that you would chat with anyone after being trapped in a temporal loop for long enough.
The guys at Arkane Studios have made use of all of their experience with Dishonored to create what looks like quite a chaotic and thrilling experience in Deathloop. The launch of the game is scheduled for September 14 on Pc and PlayStation 5 exclusively.
