Star Citizen: no release date after 13 years

It wouldn't be surprising to find Star Citizen among the most profitable games of all time if it wasn't because the game has not been officially released yet. The game from Cloud Imperium Games was born with a successful campaign on Kickstarter 13 years ago that gathered quite a sizeable amount in the blink of an eye. After that, the game has continued to raise money and it has now raised a total of $802,407,210. The game combines elements from the space simulation, first-person shooters, and MMO genres to offer an experience that has been growing nonstop since its development started. However, Star Citizen is only available as a paid public alpha, which is pretty much an early access of sorts.

A never-ending story

To rake in such a huge amount of cash without even releasing the game is quite an achievement in itself. However, the lack of a release date for both the single-player campaign and the MMO side of the experience can be a cause of concern for those willing to dive into Star Citizen. Also, there are reports of a lack of focus on the development.
