Tactical Reigns Supreme as Space Marine 2’s Top Class

Two years after the launch of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, Focus Entertainment has revealed which classes players have selected most frequently in PvE Operations over the past year. The statistics show Tactical leading the pack with 44.4 million selections, followed by Bulwark with 40.1 million. Assault recorded 33.3 million picks, while Heavy and Vanguard reached 30.4 million and 27.4 million respectively. Techmarine came in at 22.3 million, while Sniper recorded 20 million selections.

Tactical Dominates Space Marine 2’s PvE Class Rankings

Tactical’s position at the top is closely tied to its versatile toolkit. The class can access powerful Melta weapons and the Pyreblaster, giving it strong options against both hordes and tougher targets. Its signature Auspex Scan is arguably even more important, allowing Tactical players to reveal enemies and apply a significant debuff within a targeted area. That team utility can become particularly valuable during high-difficulty Operations, where coordinated damage against dangerous enemies can make a major difference.

The statistics also highlight an interesting contrast between the classes. Bulwark’s 40.1 million selections put it relatively close to Tactical, reflecting the appeal of its defensive and team-support capabilities. Meanwhile, Sniper sits at the bottom with 20 million picks.

Apothecary Could Shake Up the Class Meta in 2027

The class landscape could change again with Space Marine 2’s Year 3 roadmap. Apothecary is scheduled to arrive in early 2027, adding another option for players and potentially reshaping class-selection trends. For now, however, the statistics provide a clear snapshot of how players have approached PvE Operations during the game's second year. Ready to test your skills in the fight against the Tyranids and Chaos?
