Soul Hackers 2 is announced for consoles and PC
After setting up a countdown website, developer Atlus announced through a live stream Soul Hackers 2, a new RPG coming to consoles and PC this August. As the name suggests, the title is a sequel to Devil Summoner: Souls Hackers, a 1997 game initially released for the Sega Saturn, later attaining versions for PlayStation and Nintendo 3DS. Devil Summoner is a spin-off to the series Shin Megami Tensei if you are not familiar. The Shin Megami spin-offs deserve their own essay but do not forget that Persona 5 is also a part of it, so you can rest assured that the gameplay will be excellent.
In the new Soul Hackers, we will follow a group of Devil Summoners who must unite to prevent the end of the world. Led by Ringo, an artificial hacker created to avert the apocalypse, the heroes will face the traditional demons of the Shin Megami Tensei franchise while using their powers to defeat a mysterious evil force.
Soul Hackers 2 is a direct sequel
Soul Hackers 2 gameplay differs from its predecessor, which featured first-person battles and movement. Now, its gameplay is similar to modern titles from Atlus, like Shin Megami Tensei V. Soul Hackers 2 will allow players to explore a contemporary Japanese city filled with demons. Other typical franchise elements, such as turn-based battles and demon fusions, return alongside some new mechanics.
As a pre-order bonus in Japan, players will receive additional content in the form of alternate costumes for the protagonists based on Persona 5's Phantom Thieves. The battle music will switch to the "Keeper of Lust" song from the 2016 game when bearing the masked heroes look.
Soul Hackers 2 will be released worldwide for PlayStation 5 and 4, Xbox One and Series, and PC via Steam on August 26. Keep an eye on our updates to grab game key deals for Soul Hackers 2 and prepare to hack the apocalypse away.
