Persona 5 The Royal has a new trailer focused on Yusuke Kitagawa
Persona 5 The Royal is an expanded version of the JRPG Persona 5 that was released two years ago for PS4. This updated version will bring to the game a lot of new content that will mix up the gameplay and give a whole new context to the entire story. The changes bring a new character and party member Kasumi Yoshizawa that plays a huge role in the narrative. An extra semester means that late-game events will change, and new social scenes will add more quality time with the cast. In this expanded version, Kasumi Yoshizawa also moves to Tokyo around the same time the protagonist does. She meets him and his friends after they saved her from a suspicious person. Although she is friendly with them, she resents the Phantom Thieves. Kasumi believes their actions would make people suffer, and she believes people should change on their own. This puts her at odds with the new school counselor, who believes the Phantom Thieves will bring the justice that the police couldn't. Another new character is Takuto Maruki, a part-time school counselor who starts working in Shujin Academy. He can understand peoples’ feelings and always helps them whenever needed. Unlike Kasumi, he views the Phantom Thieves very positively. As he believes they can bring justice and make people happy, despite him not liking their method. Takuto seems to dislike Principal Kobayakawa, as he suspects he doesn’t care about students and has his own agenda.
As the release date gets closer, Developer Atlus is starting to release character trailers, and it is Yusuke's turn. The clip that you can watch below highlights Yusuke and Ann's special moves, which sees the former perform some especially cool slashes with his sword. Partner attacks have embraced a new level of absurdity, combining moves you can expect in games like Yakuza series with a pinch of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.
Persona 5 takes place in modern-day Tokyo where the protagonist, Joker, has transferred to Shujin Academy after being put on probation for an assault of which he was falsely accused. During the course of a school year, he and other students will awaken to special powers, becoming a group of secret vigilantes known as the Phantom Thieves of Hearts. They will explore the Metaverse, a supernatural realm born from humanity's subconscious desires, to steal malevolent intent from the hearts of adults and take part in battles. As with previous games in the series, the Phantom Thieves fight enemies known as Shadows using physical manifestations of their psyche known as the Persona. Persona 5 The Royal will be a PlayStation 4 exclusive and it is set to launch on October 31, 2019, in Japan and sometime in 2020 worldwide.
