Atlus shares Persona 3 Reload opening movie

Atlus has unveiled the new opening of Persona 3 Reload on its official channels. The video depicts the game's protagonist selecting a song on his MP3 player, reinforcing a player theory that all the game's tracks were playing only in his head. As the song begins, the trailer navigates through all the members of the SEES group, subtly delivering some narrative implications that only fans of the classic game will recognize.

The new opening theme is titled "Full Moon Full Life!" and is sung by Azumi Takahashi, a newcomer to the franchise. Interestingly, we can see the protagonist scrolling past two other songs on his MP3 player, such as "Burn my Dread" and "Want to be Close," soundtracks from the classic Persona 3 opening and when wandering around the school, respectively.

It's notable how Persona 3 Reload drew inspiration from and used the same references as the original opening to create the new one. The blue hue with some red and white details sets the scene, while the melody remains in the same tune, just making it more vibrant and contemporary.

Persona 3 Reload is the remake of the classic Persona 3. In the past, the game had a version called Persona 3 FES, which expanded on the scope of the original game, and later Persona 3 Portable, which added a new female main character as well as some very nice quality-of-life improvements. Persona 3 Reload will encompass these quality-of-life enhancements and include the additional content in FES, known as The Answer. However, it won't feature the female protagonist from the portable version.

Atlus is promising to bring strong RPGs in 2024. On March 8, we'll have Unicorn Overlord, a collaboration between Atlus and Vanillaware, the team behind 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim and Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir. In Fall 2024, a new IP called Metaphor: ReFantazio will emerge from the same Persona team. The new RPG draws heavily from the Persona source but is set in a fantasy universe where everyone is competing to become the next king. RPG players have a lot on their plate this year, and there's still much more to come.
