Huge update hits Monster Hunter Wilds with new content
Monster Hunter Wilds just roared back into the spotlight with the release of Title Update 2, packed with fresh monsters, gear, and gameplay improvements that could help win back players. Although Capcom officially unveiled the update on June 30, fans actually got an early look thanks to a slip-up on the official PlayStation website, which accidentally published the details ahead of schedule before quickly pulling the page.
Now fully live, the free Title Update 2 adds two beloved beasts—Lagiacrus and Seregios—as new huntable monsters. Each arrives with extra missions, Tempered variants for high-rank hunters, and powerful new gear. Players can also look forward to the arrival of Arch-Tempered Uth Duna in a future event quest, which promises unique armor for those daring enough to take it down.

Beyond new monsters, the update introduces highly requested features like Layered Weapons for both hunters and Palicoes, allowing players to customize weapon appearances without affecting performance. Hunters can also choose new Support Hunter companions, switch their handler between Alma and Erik, and enjoy streamlined base operations with extra item boxes and UI improvements.
Capcom’s patch also brings a host of quality-of-life updates and bug fixes—from new photo mode options and graphical enhancements (including DLSS 4 and FSR 4 support) to balancing tweaks across numerous weapon types. The developers clearly hope these updates will address performance complaints and reignite interest in the game, which saw a steep drop-off in its player base despite a strong launch earlier this year.
It’s a critical moment for Monster Hunter Wilds as Capcom seeks to keep players engaged and counter recent criticism over technical hiccups and simplified gameplay. Whether Lagiacrus’ electrifying return and the influx of new content will be enough to bring hunters back remains to be seen—but it’s certainly an exciting time for fans.
