Modern Warfare II is the new Call of Duty

It's official, there will be a new Call of Duty this year, and it's called Modern Warfare II, or that's what you can extract from the latest announcement that Activision and Infinity Ward have made via Twitter. Stay calm. It doesn't seem to be a remastered version of the original Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 from 2009. The publication includes a brief teaser that reveals the logo of the new game and a short sentence that reads: "The new era of Call of Duty is coming." Obviously, the developer studio should be revealing plenty of information about it ahead of a future release that will probably take place in the last quarter of the year, but ahead of that, the fans will likely be able to take a look at the game during some beta events.

The future Call of Duty

Although no info has been revealed about its features, the announcement hints that big changes may be coming to the franchise with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II. Actually, it's rather necessary since Call of Duty: Vanguard did not really hit the nail with the community of fans. Its problems with matchmaking and weapon balancing, along with the launch of other games that have drawn the attention of the players, like Halo Infinite, have made the latest installment in the series not so popular. Some may argue that the fans are just tired of getting a new game every year, but the formula has been working for a long time already, and Activision doesn't seem to be planning to change it anytime soon.

Digging deeper into the little information we have about Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, you may have noticed that the teaser shows the logo of Task Force 141. It should be very familiar to those that played Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, as it's the name of the team starring that game. 

It's hard to guess how both games will be tied or what kind of novelties the new installment in the popular first-person shooter series will bring.
